Teaching our trainees general knowledge about Malaysia with its different festivals, cultures and history is part of Seri Mengasih Centre’s functional and holistic curriculum towards them achieving the end goals of living productive and meaningful lives as integral members of their community.
Every year, we celebrate while teaching them about our major festivals, such as Chinese New Year, Pesta Kaamatan (our state of Sabah’s Harvest Festival), Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Christmas, and of course Malaysia Day which is our beginning as a nation on 16th September 1963.
Thursday the 6th of September, is our centre level celebrations; using the country’s 2018 theme of “Sayangi Malaysiaku”. It will be held in Seri Mengasih Centre, currently located at Tanjung Aru 3rd Beach, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The event will begin at 8.00 am with flag raising, and singing of the national and state anthems. Then the rest of the morning will be filled with marching, quizzes, refreshments; ending at 12.00 pm. It will be a fun filled and knowledge imparting day. Even now during preparation days leading to the event; our trainees are enjoying making their little flags and head bands while learning to sing the anthems and patriotic songs.
