About Us

Seri Mengasih Centre is a charity non-government organisation known as the Registered Trustees of Seri Mengasih Trust; relying mainly on fundraising projects, and public donations for its operation costs.

It operates as a special developmental day training centre providing specialized training for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities from as young as 4 years old up to adulthood.

In January 1981, it was established as the first special education school in Sabah for this category of students.

Intellectual and developmental disabilities include the following types:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Below average intelligence of IQ 70 and below
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Chromosome Abnormalities; for examples – Down syndrome, William syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome and others
